Ankasa Conservation Area

One of the must-see locations in Africa to appreciate the splendor of nature in the Western Region of Ghana. The Ankasa Conservation Area is one of the Western Region's top natural attractions.

One of the greatest forest reserves in West Africa is the Ankasa conservation area. Since the 1950s, when Ghana decided to designate the area as a forest reserve, the territory has been subject to strict protection against human activities like hunting and logging.

The Ankasa Resource Reserve and Nini-Suhien National Park make up this dual wildlife-protected area. It is located in a 500 km2 area. Ankasa conservation area, one of many reserves in Ghana, is home to tropical evergreen woods and receives the most annual rainfall in Ghana, making it the ideal location for wildlife. It is Ghana's richest forest in terms of plant richness because it receives the most rainfall there. In a single hectare, almost 300 different plant species have been identified. Dahoma, Makore, and Khaya are notable members of the plant. Numerous well-known flora can be found at Ankasa.

More than 180 different bird species and 630 different butterfly species make up the forest's animal population, and chimpanzees, monkeys, elephants, and leopards may all be found in good numbers in the park.

There are further sights in the region that you would like to see. Included in this is the well-known Suhien River, which tumbles through the woodland and creates a stunning cascade. The Nini-Suhien National Park also offers picnicking and camping for you and your friends and family to enjoy. Out of the total 500km2 of the reserve, the park takes up more than 180km2. Thousands of local and foreign tourists visit the area each year since it is open to tourists.

Ankasa also has hiking paths, trees, and twines with amazing formations, river cascades, a 'Bamboo Cathedral,' and lodges designed to make visitors bedfellows with nature. It boasts unusual plants and damp rainforest air.

Visitors are encouraged to bring raincoats because the weather in the area is erratic. It can also be reached from surrounding beach tourist communities such as Cape Three Points, Jewi Wharf, Busua, Axim, and Elubo.

There are many tourist activities available at Ankasa, including game viewing, hiking, and bird watching. More tourists will visit the area thanks to the Reserve's effective marketing, which will also bring in money for the locals who live there and nearby.
