The Cuevas del Drach is often contemplated to be one of the largest caves in all of Europe. It is situated on the eastern shore, not far from Porto Cristo, which may be reached by foot. The caves of Majorca are evidence of a change in sea levels that occurred thousands of years ago. The caves' peculiar beauty is a source of wonder and fascination due to their mysterious origins.
The cave was known during the middle ages, but it was not mapped in its entirety until 1896 when the French geologist E.A. Martel discovered it. That is why his name was given to the lake that can be read at the very end of the cave.
The four breathtaking natural wonders that make up the Caves of Drach are referred to as the Black Cave, the White Cave, the Cave of Luis Salvador, and the Cave of the French. They are all linked to one another, and together they make up an immensely significant portion of the history of the area.
